How can I repair it?

I accidentally plugged my sansa cable into my ipod nano 8g 3rd gen. I unplugged it and replugged it into my mac using the correct cable, but the ipod now does not show up either on itunes or on the mac's desktop. Can I repair this, and if so, how

Thanks for your 3 coments. First, I was mistaken about the ipod still charging--it does not charge or appear on itunes. I have plugged the ipod into another computer with no results. I am not sure if I can reset it without it appearing on the computer. I will look into that. As to the comment from harry, I think it is possible that I may have somehow damaged or bent the pins, but am not sure what they should look like. Under a magnifying glass,(With the back of the ipod facing up) the 2 pins on either end and 2 in the middle are further down (that is, towards the front of the ipod)then the other pins. I am not sure what the pins should look like , so I don't know if this is normal or not, and if not, which way I should push the pins.

I can't be sure, but I think you may have accidentally damaged the contacts in the female connector of the iPod. Have you tried taking a close look at the contacts?

It may even be that you pushed the female connector further into the iPod body than it should be, so the iPod cable isn't making proper contact with the connector.

You'll need to look at it closely to decide if either of these possibilities is the case though.

Oddly, the ipod charges from the wall charger, but not from the computers. It does not show up on nor charge from the computer, and I can't load songs. I have 2 computers, and the ipod doesn't show up on either one. I have not tried reset, because it will wipe out all my songs(The ipod is fully loaded) and if reset doesn't work, I will have nothing on it and will not be able to load it again.

I did email 2 ipod repair places, and both said that it is probably fried, and likely can't be repaired.

Sorry not to have replied to previous responses. For some reason, I didn't receive email notification until this last one.
