keys 6, 7, y, u, h, j, n and m dont work

a few months ago these keys have stopped working and ive tried to clean them with compressed air but that hasnt helped

Hi,

Try plugging in a USB keyboard and see if it works OK.

If it does then you most probably have a faulty keyboard.

It is easier to replace the keyboard than try to fix it as you can cause more problems than you solve if you attempt this.

Here is a link to the service manual for your laptop. Scroll to p.23 to see the pre requisites and procedures for removing and replacing (just reverse the procedure) the keyboard.

It also lists the part number for the keyboard. If you search online using just the appropriate part number for your particular keyboard you will get suppliers of the part.

Something sticky is probably under these keys or something is caught under these keys like crumbs or paper. Unplug keyboard then try getting very small flat brush like to "sweep"under keys. If it's something liquid and sticky, clean with delicate cleaner or rubbing alcohol on Qtip and carefully swipe under affected keys. Make sure you dry keyboard before plugging back in.
