Similar to my other answer about your static question, you can do the exact same thing as instructed and repair if need be. Make sure the port is clean, if it isn't try using a different microphone. If the device still doesn't work, refer to the guide for replacing the headphone jack.

I have an older A40, with the swing up (mute), swing down (unmute) mic. This is a circa 2013 model, and the mic will no longer unmute when swung to the down (unmuted) position. It does not seem to be removable. Any suggestions for taking the earpiece apart to get at the, I assume, switch that seems to be the point of failure. I have stripped the earpiece to the point where it seems force is the only way to get the cover off.

Ok. So after searching around, I found the following video by Cameron Meers, that shows the disassembly of an A50.

The issue with removing the back of the case is, you don’t, you go in through the inside. I just didn’t know to remove the inner foam pad. Once I did that I was able to complete the disassembly, and find the broken wire that seems to be that problem.

My general observation is that this is a very cheaply built product. The wire that failed is subjected to movement and flexing every time the mic is repositioned. With such flimsy components, and no thought apparently given to the fatigue factor on the wire, it comes as no surprise that the wire fatigue-fractured where it enters the PCB solder location. In the video (time stamp 1:19) you can see the wire in question, between the yellow and the bare copper. In my headset, that wire has broken away from the solder connection. I hope this is the only issue, but resoldering that wire is an obvious next step.
