TouchID not working after rear camera replacement

I recently replaced my rear camera since it stopped working after the phone was dropped. The replacement was quick and straightforward, but it appears that I've lost my TouchID after the repair. I've read that the TouchID ribbon and home button are integral to the process.

I removed the heat shield the closely inspected the ribbon and have yet to find any damage to the ribbon itself, but with each subsequent reassembly, I'm always met with the "TouchID can't be activated" disclaimer when booting up the device.

What I've tried so far:

- Hard reset

- Soft reset

- Reset network settings

- Reset all settings

- Inspected connections at logic board and near the home button

- Replaced entire assembly (heat shield/TouchID ribbon)

I'm completely stumped with this device as of right now. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I would try a new long flex and update software

I tried this too! I replaced the entire heat shield and flex cable and updated to iOS 10.0.2, but I'm still getting the error.

First, put the original Touch ID button and ribbon back in the phone. That's the only way to get the Touch ID functionality back. I'd also try running a restore from a computer.

I replaced the original ribbon and double checked everything before reassembling, but TouchID functionality wasn't restored. I'll try restoring from my computer next.

Not exactly an answer, but I've not been able to restore touch ID on two phones since the arrival of iOS 10. Original home button on both. Would therefore very much like to hear if you resolve this.

I don't see that you've tried a DFU restore. Final step in the desperation process.

I'll definitely make sure to post anything if I manage to restore the TouchID finctionality. I've yet to try a DFU restore. What is that exactly?

I fixed mine. I tried this: (moving a small metal heat shield over from my broken screen) Touch ID not working after screen replacement? THEN a DFU restore

Consider me jealous. I did a DFU restore last night - which is a little different with iOS 10, and TouchID functionality still hasn't been restored. Even better, my screen began flickering after the process, but I restored from a backup and corrected that. Still stumped on the TouchID though.

The flickering screen is a total mystery, but the point I was trying to make is try unplugging your home button, then plugging it back in very carefully & firmly. Then DFU again.
