Possible damage by repair tech

I've sent off my iPad to be repaired by a local repair company. The screen was cracked & the home button needed replaced after using it "as is" for years. The ipad had full function, the screen & home button still worked. I received a call from the tech telling me they had a serious issue, the lcd connector was most likely damaged and he needed to order the part,he also explained that replacing this part may not fix it. He claimed it wasn't damaged during screen replacement and that it must have been damaged from when it was dropped & the screen became cracked. He put the new screen on and it no longer worked. Would this most likely occur due to the repair or from dropping it years ago, even though it still worked up until he changed the screen?

Gekozen oplossing

@heatherish3 sounds a bit odd but anything is possible. Right now you are at the mercy of the place you took it to since you do not know what it looked like (the connector) before they worked on it. I'd definitely consider a different place next time.
