Aftermarket screens are burning out backlight filter?

Recently we have had increased number of backlight repairs on iPhone 6. 5 phones within last 7 days. It appears that all phones that come in have had a screen replacement few days/weeks before the FL2024 went out. Seems like the problem is related to the aftermarket screens. Has anyone else noticed this problem? We are trying to find out what exactly is causing the problem and which factory these screens are coming from.

We have not seen this problem here, but i do know some screen don't have the smal black sticker covering the 3 solder joints on the back. If you instal the screen without the sticker it can cause the backlight to die... maybe it has something to do with this

Yea first thing we checked is that sticker, but it was present on all of them. Could be just a local problem but 4 stores in the area had this problem

Funnily enough sometimes I don't cover the 3 solder points on the screen which connects the backlight. Never had any issues like this though luckily.

You do unplug the battery before unplugging and plugging cables right?

I haven't see this issue with aftermarket screens, I purchased from my supplier but will keep my eye out for this issue.

Never had that issue but it could be just coincidence that you had it like that. could be just fault on the motherboard.

I bought a screen from ifixit.com and my backlight just randomly went out the other day. I'll look to see if I have the sticker. But weird indeed!

Usually backlight fails on replacement screen for no aparrant reason are caused by a bad quality screen.

My guess is they use too much power and short circuited.

There is another case where if the top right screws for earpiece speaker and back metal plate are loose they could come out and touch the logic board near the backlight circuit area and cause backlight to fail.

I checked the screws you mentioned and they were tight. Not sticking out, so shouldn't have been that. But I would think ifixit.com would have good quality replacement screens and not have to deal with this issue

I'm gonna try to check for the sicker. But I don't know where it is exactly.
