Losing BT connection to Bose Speakers when they hit sleep mode.

External Bose Bluetooth speakers go into a sleep mode when nothing is being transmitted to them. Dot, while always listening for the wake word, doesn't seem to be sending 'keep alive' signals to the Bluetooth. So after a period of time, the Bluetooth will disconnect and won't reconnect until you press the button on the speaker or tell Dot to connect to the speakers again. I believe that Dot needs to send keep alives. I'm looking for a solution.

Hi,

Just wondering if, in the Bluetooth settings, there is an option to alter the visibility timeout setting to never timeout and whether this would make a difference.

Or if there are any options in the Bluetooth's advanced settings section which may be of some help.

I would also like an answer to this same problem if they come up with one!

How do I keep my Bose speaker alive?

It should be simple enough to make a skill for Alexa that just sends a short and silent audio signal every 9 minutes to make Bluetooth speakers of ALL brands stay awake.

I have been plagued by this on five different sets of Bluetooth speakers. Having the connection is useless if the speakers keep going to sleep, and there's no reason there can't be a skill to combat this.

I have the same problem, i.e., the Bose connection to the Dot goes to sleep after a short interval of about 15 minutes. I did not see an answer posted... did I miss something?

I'm on Amazon tech support right now. Just sent them a link to this article so they can see the exact issue (since they keep thinking that I loose my Bluetooth connection which is not true). Let's see what they have to say. My speaker is a Logitech UE Boom, but I have the exact same issue.

By the way, if you go into the Alexa app when this happens you will see that the Bluetooth is still active.

Update (01/07/2017)

I found this:

http://s15.zetaboards.com/Echo_UK/topic/...

Apparently you can disable the auto-off on the soundlink mini when connected to the auxiliary port by pressing and holding the Bluetooth & + buttons together.

Not sure if this will help you. But I just tried it on my UE Boom to see if that helps. My speaker flashed twice after I did this so it did something.

Update (01/11/2017)

Amazon tech support called today. Got me disconnect thru the Alexa App, the bluetooth speaker then re-connect the speaker. He then said he would call back in 40 minutes. 40 minutes later, he called and sure enough the speaker was no longer being used by my Echo Dot. We re-connected thru the Alexa App and the guy downloaded all the logs for the engineers.

Hopefully they will figure out how to keep the speakers active.

Disabling auto-off on the soundlink mini doesn't work. Pressing bt button and + makes a beep indicating that the setting changed, but it behaves the same.
