You know when you restart it, it usually shows the starting screen where you have to put the passcode to enter the homescreen...it doesn't show up on mine...

the problem is probably oxidation(rust) due to the water damage the best is to put the mother board in a ultrasonic cleaner in order to remover and stop rust from spreading

BTW the connector you are looking to is the LCD connector (since you can not put the whole lcd in liquid you will have to clean it manually whit an esd safe brush)

Well after 3 months the problem just got back and this time all the screen would get the lines so i bougth a new screen and changed it, took me like 1/2 an hour following a tutorial on youtube and now my ZenFone is as good as new, checked for the connector rust and is just as @reparactif said, but due to the small size of the connector i went for the change, the new screen costed $23 dolars and got a new tempered glads for $7 and special tape to fix the scrren in place for another $12 in amazon after a couole of months i will share how well the new screen is doing.

I got the same problem, while trying to fix it changed the recently updated ZenUI Launcher with the Google Launcher to give it a try and now i only get the lines in the unlock screen and in the Asus Gallery not the Google photo gallery, i think the problem lies within the las OS update i received last week.

i have the same problem since the zenUI update... It started with horizontal lines in the middle of the screen, now it's from 2/3 from the bottom, sometimes it turns white, it bugs a lot when black images, when white it goes better...

i hadn't the problem before update

My phone was never wet, i wondered if it came because my phone went warm a lot while fast charging. I hope asus will solve the problem.

I just had an OS update but it bugged. while trying to update, i had the same screen bug on boot and on update screen after rebooting.

Sorry for my bad english, i'm french, i hope it's clear enough

Update: after a week using Google Launcher the lines dissapeared and i had no more problems with my display so till the next update for the ZenUI i will stick to Google Launcher

Allan! Out of all of the research and technological solutions I could find, this worked! Reminds me of the movie Sling Blade when nobody could figure out why the mower wasn't working..."it ain't got no gas." I never make accounts for threads but you saved me from buying a new phone, thanks!

This problem is being caused by some loose gap on the back of the screen, to solve this problem, you need to make sure the screen is well secured. To do so, just open the back cover and unscrew the battery cover, then stick some very thin foam over ( & around the edge of the motherboard ), make sure these are not covering the camera, volume button etc .. then screw back the cover gently. This should solve the problem!... if still not fixed fully stick some of the same thin foam under battery which isolates the battery from the screen and fixes the screen and problem should go away!

Hi, If it has been wet most likely that screen or board is damaged!

However the screen connection has two leads to the mainboard . On is for LCD and other is for digitizer touch glass. When you open the back cover

The LCD connector is on the far left coonector just above the battery and digitizer has a very small lead fuether up on left connected under metal cover.

You need to lift the metal cover carefully and lift thr connecor latch and the pull the small flat cable. Be carefull this can be damaged if try it hard.

Hope this help
