Tray only opens about an inch

Xbox 360 slim tray closes but will only open an inch, have tried the manual open with paperclip and it opens it but only the inch, there is a tab that i have read you cAn push to open but its located on the back of the tray so cant access it, xbox tech support said it will be $99 to send in am not doing that because you can buy a new refurbished one for that amount also all the changes coming about. Anyway if anyone know hows to open the tray by hand i would be grateful to hear the ideas, thank you
