Is iPhone 3G lcd compatible with iPhone 3GS lcd?

I want to know if i can replace the iPhone 3gs lcd with the iPhone's 3gs lcd.

Unfortunately, the connectors are different. They are not compatible.

That's funny cuz I used my 3GS LCD on my 3G iPhone but I guess it doesn't wok the other way around

Not sure where you got your lcd from but it shouldn't fit, but definitely good for you. The connectors between those two phones are different and thus the display is not interchangeable. Do a search on ifixit many have tried and all have failed. ;-)

in my early days of repair I blew the backlight on a 3gs trying to put a 3g lcd on.. it simply wouldn't fit! the size of the connection is different. measure the two pin parts of the flex and it's pretty obvious. lesson learned.. the hard way!

I thought the connections between the digitizer and the board were different; but that the lcd panel itself was the same...

no and no. I have tried by accident several times and they truly do not fit. The earpiece/proximity (no.3) is the same for both phones and is on the front panel next to the other connections..perhaps this is what you are thinking of?
