This is not good ;-{

It appears too much force was used to pull or push in the cable. The connector housing is completely ripped away from the logic board and the pins which are exposed now appear to be damaged.

At this point the logic board will need some very delicate repair or its time for a replacement logic board. Both will be expensive!

Is this the same system as this one? My 1tb hard rive in my iMac makes sounds and doesn't run.

If it is you may want to think hard here as this is an older system and between replacing/repairing the logic board and the replacement of the HD you'll end up spending more than buying a newer used model.

If this is your first time repairing an iMac I would put this down as a good lesson and move on. Computers are very delicate inside and as you have learned can be broken with out much effort.

This connector is the cheapest piece of d*ng I have ever seen on a Mac. The video cables are to short you can't get a man sized hand in to work on them and I've personally destroyed two myself, so don't feel to bad. This is especially true on the 21" machines. I no longer take this machine in if the LED has to be removed.
