ipad 3 wont charge in a computer and home button issue

so i'm working on an ipad 3 that had a damaged charge port. i swapped the charging port out and then when i closed it up and went to test it out it started to charge. now, i dont have a 5v 2a charger so i'm not surprised to it charging slow but i wanted to make sure it would work sufficiently. i then plugged it into my computer and it says that it's not charging, although it's acknowledging being plugged in. i assume that just means that my computer doesn't put out enough juice, but i would like to be certain. if that's not that pressing of an issue, the fact that the home button doesn't work anymore is. please help

Hi!

Your assumption is correct - the USB port on the computer does not put out enough power to cause the device to charge, so it is normal for the computer to "see" it without charging it. For the home button, you may need to disassemble the device and ensure that the contacts on the Home button control board are clean.

thank you for the help. the contacts were fine on the home button but the little prongs on the charge port that make the contact were defective. swapped a new one on and it worked. thanks again:D
