home button cable of iPhone 6 and plus is the common?

Hi, dear Ifixit technicist. I found a strange case this morning. One website showed the iPhone 6 replacement home button flex can also be used for iPhone 6 plus. Is it real?

the sizes are different between iPhone 6 and plus, their home butthon can be common to use? It is really strange. Have a look,

This is crap information. iPhone 6 home button cannot be replaced. You lose Touch ID immediately and the phone bricks when trying to reinstall iOS.

So what you lose Touch ID if you’re replacing it then it wouldn’t work either way but at least you get functionality. And I’ve never seen a “brick” when updated due to the homebutton. Source- 5 years experience in phone repair

Look at the answer, five years ago.

The iPhone home button can be replaced, but will lose Touch ID after replacement whether it's iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus. If you do not need the Touch ID any more, the iPhone 6 home button can be used on iPhone 6 plus.

how many times do i have to tell you guys? don't do this if you have iphone 6/6 plus, this will brick your phone completely!!

So what is a person supposed to do if they damaged the home button? Get a new phone?

door

Yes, Tim, or don't update/reinstall iOS and say goodbye to Touch ID.

That's stupidity. Way to go, Apple. Not everyone puts their entire lives on a freaking cell phone, and couldn't care less about its security. If you're putting your identity onto something you carry in your pocket, you kinda have no right to whine about security. I don't even use the Touch ID nonsense, nor a passcode lock. Having to buy a new $900 phone when a $5 part breaks is an epic fail. I'm seriously considering just cancelling my cell coverage and going to a landline. I don't know why cell service for smartphones still costs an arm and a leg.

There is a thing called warranty, and Apple can fix the phone by just replacing the display, not the entire phone, at a price of about $130. (still not $5 but better than $900)

Of course the fingerprint will not work, clicking Yes will work fine.

also home button for the iPhone 6S suitable for the iPhone 6S Plus, only clik.

If you switch between iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s clicking will not work

You got a lot of poor answers here. And some just unnecessarily blunt. But judging by your questions wording I think you probably meant the home button flex cable? You refer to Phone size...

The plain answer is no.

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus home button flex cables are of different length and so the cable for the 6 cannot be used on a 6 plus. Other than having extra cable folded inside your 6 I don’t see any reason that the cable for the 6 plus cannot be used. This part itself does not affect the functionality of the touch ID.

As for the home button itself. What they say is true. Although the button and it’s assembly can be interchanged between these devices, once replaced you will lose all functionality of Touch ID. I don’t know about this bricking problem after updating. I’ve never run into it and I do this replacement all the time.

Error 53 bricked your phone after non OEM parts were installed on the device. This was Purposely done bia software by apple to discourage 3rd party repairs. It was remedied on a subsequent update. And Tom Chai is a dickhead so yea

Don't do it. It simply breaks the phone.

ATTENTION

It is perfectly safe to change your home button in 2017 and later.Apple patched the issue that would brick your iphone if you tried to update after changing your home button.Error 53 has been fixed over a year now so why no one has spoken up on this post is beyond me.

Just a thought; could the button be replaced and if and when it is necessary to update the software just open the phone, unplug the button, update and put the phone back together.

The home buttons are interchangeable between Iphone 6 and 6 plus, but touch ID will only work with the button that comes with the phone. If it's replaced with another OEM button, Apple can reprogram the button for touch ID. There will be no phone bricking if you replace the home button. I have done about 500 of these just this year alone.
