screen problem unable to see picture.

hi this camera has been faultless upto yesterday. The camera turns on and I can see all pictures that I have taken. But when I turn it to take a picture mode I get up all the normal icons a light grey screen but no image. If I take a picture I get a grey screen shot.thought it was the lcd screen but, surely I would not be able to view previously taken pictures on a faulty screen. any help?. quite like this camera so would like to fix her.

Carl, that does not sound like a bad LCD at all. This sounds like an error with the CCD unit. Make sure that the CCD flex it is properly seated and that the latch on the connector is closed. The CCD itself is fairly costly and it may pay off to buy a camera with other issues and use it for parts. The parts number for the CCD is VEK0L97. Hope this helps, good luck.

I know this is a decade old, but would you have any idea where I could find this sensor? I have the same camera with the same issue, but I can't find a new or used VEK0L97 sensor anywhere. Anything helps! :)

@marcusvolp18949 just baes on age,the sensor will be hard to come by. I noticed that Amazon sells a lens with the CCD sensor included, but it's pricey. I'd consider trying to purchase a "bad " camera off ebay and harvest the sensor from that.
