Stripped screwhole in RAM Door (L-Bracket)?

Unfortunately, I stripped one of the screws in the RAM Door L-bracket. Now, one end of the bracket will not stay in place in order to secure the RAM chip.

Any suggestions on how to repair/replace this?

As far as I can tell, the screw is not stripped, but the threaded hole is stripped.

Is it possible to repair?

In such cases I've used a flat piece of metal as a shoehorn in order to push the bracket in so that the battery can slip into place. If you can get the battery in and locked, I think you're basically fine. With the battery pressing against the bracket, there is no real risk of the RAM coming loose, especially if it's only one screw that has the issue.

I would be reluctant to repair it for fear of causing more damage, especially since it's such a minor issue anyway.

Thats just a cover. Its does not actually hold the RAM in place.

Why doesn't the RAM "snap" into place? It doesn't seem as secured as in other models? Seems like a poor design.

Chucky is correct -- the RAM is very well secured in place, and the cover does not physically hold the RAM in its socket. What the cover does do is hold back the mechanical arms that release the RAM when they are pulled on, and keep them from protruding into the area where the battery resides. This is why I mentioned using the "shoehorn" method, as when the cover is not screwed in, the arms push it out into the battery area and so it's necessary to push them back in while inserting the battery.
