Phone shows plug into iTunes
Screen shows that I have to plug my phone onto iTunes and it will not do anything els please help

Hello, (Please read full answer before attempting).
Please try plugging the iPod into your Computer and loading up iTunes, A window should then pop up saying that your iPhone is in recovery mode or just that it needs to be restored before you can use it. Proceed to restore the iPhone.
It can take a while so do not be tempted into resetting it during the Restore as this causes the Connect to iTunes page to appear again and is sometimes irreversible with iPhones when the restore is interrupted.
If the restore works then your phone should be back up and running, if not then load up iTunes again and it will say restore unsuccessful and will give you an error code. If the restore did not work please comment the error code and we will go from there :)
Sadly I do not think you can back up the data before hand and the iPhone is failing to start so needs the software reinstalling or hardware replacing.

Hi there my iphone 3g has been out of action for a while as its been saying connect to itunes for nearly two years everytime I try recover my phone it doesnt work please help !!

In this situation, it indeed indicates that you have been stuck on recovery mode screen. The intuitive description is iPhone display with USB icon and iTunes logo, you can easily and quickly fix this with a free and excellent program named ReiBoot provided by Tenorshare. Have a try.

are you able to do it for me ?
um the software you mentioned (reiboot) is not free, in order to do anything with it it ass you to register and pay a minimum of 35 dollars!!!!!!! :(

What happens when you plug it in? Did anything happen to phone? did this just start? Give us some more info.
