Retroid Pocket Flip D-pad Inputs Not Registering
When pressing the D-pad on the Retroid Pocket Flip, some or all directions do not respond, respond only sometimes, or register incorrectly. Follow the steps below to identify possible causes of the issue.
Dirty or obstructed D-pad contacts
Dust or dirt under the D-pad can stop the buttons from making proper contact, which can cause inputs to stop working or behave inconsistently. Power off the device and check the D-pad area for visible dirt. If cleaning inside the device is needed, refer to the Directional Buttons (D-pad) Replacement Guide to safely access and clean the internal components.
Misaligned or Worn Button Membrane
Under the D-pad, there is a thin rubber membrane that helps register button presses. If this membrane shifts out of place or becomes worn over time, some directions may not register correctly. If the D-pad feels uneven or requires more pressure than usual, the membrane may need to be adjusted or replaced. Refer to the Retroid Pocket Flip Directional Buttons (D-pad) Replacement Guide to inspect or replace the membrane.
Loose Internal Connection
Internal cables connect the D-pad to the rest of the device. If one of these connections becomes loose, inputs may stop working or respond only sometimes. If the issue started after the device was dropped or opened, a loose connection may be the cause. Refer to the Retroid Pocket Flip Directional Buttons (D-pad) Replacement Guide to access the internal components and check the connection.
Faulty Input Board
If none of the above steps resolve the problem, the internal board responsible for reading button inputs may be damaged. After ruling out cleaning, alignment and connection issues, replacing the board may be necessary. Refer to the Retroid Pocket Flip Motherboard Replacement Guide for further instructions.
