Your camera simply will not turn on

The batteries are most likely out of charge. Try replacing them.

Your camera may appear to be off because the screen is not active. However, the screen may simply be damaged. If the indicator light shows the camera is on, but nothing appears on the screen, you may need to replace your LCD screen.

Your camera turns off suddenly, when you do not intend it to

Your batteries may be out of charge. Try replacing them.

This camera is known to sometimes have an overly sensitive power button. Make sure your grip when using the camera keeps all your fingers away from the button.

Your firmware may be out of date. Seek an update. Click here to download the OLYMPUS Digital Camera Updater. Once the software is installed, follow these steps to update the firmware:

1. Before you begin
   1. Make sure you are logged into your computer with administrative privileges
   2. Make sure you are connected to the internet
   3. Make sure the camera has plenty of power
   4. Remove the memory card
   5. Connect your camera to the computer using the USB cable that came with it.
   6. Power the camera on
2. Open the OLYMPUS Digital Camera Updater.
3. Follow the on screen prompts to complete the update.
4. Wait for the update to complete.
5. Disconnect the camera.
6. Close the updater.

If your camera's screen turns off, but the lens does not retract, the camera most likely entered sleep mode. This occurs after 3 minutes of inactivity. To wake the camera, simply press the shooting mode button, labelled with a red camera symbol.

You cannot find photos you have recently taken with your camera

If you took the photos without a memory card inserted, remove any inserted memory cards, and restart your camera. Your pictures should be visible.

If you took the photos with a memory card inserted, check that the card is not locked. Power down the camera, and remove the card. On the side, there will be a small plastic slide switch. Make sure the switch is not in the LOCKED position. Then reinsert the card, and restart the camera. Your pictures should be visible.

Your camera will not save the photos you take to an inserted SD card

Your memory card may be full. Try downloading your pictures to a computer, or deleting images you no longer want.

Check that your memory card is not locked. Power down the camera, and remove the card. On the side, there will be a small plastic slide switch. Make sure the switch is not in the LOCKED position. Then reinsert the card, and restart the camera. Your camera should now be able to save to the SD card.

Make sure you are not using a high-capacity SD card, as these require special interfaces.

Format your SD card while it is in the camera. Go to setup, and run the memory format function. This process may take a few minutes to complete. This will delete all photos on the memory card, so make sure you remove any photos on the card first.

The camera is powered up, but will not take photos when you push the button

Your camera may be in sleep mode. To wake the camera, simply press the shooting mode button, labelled with a red camera symbol.

Your flash may be recharging before taking another picture. Wait until the flash icon on the screen stops blinking.

Your camera's memory card may be full. Try downloading your pictures to a computer, or deleting images you no longer want.

Your pictures are monotone, or too white

This model of camera does not handle overly bright background lights. Remove lights or relocate if possible.

Your image sensor may have some broken pixels. In the camera menu, go to setup, and run the "Pixel Mapping" function. The process will take a few moments to complete. If this does not work, try replacing the image sensor.

Your images do not appear as they should on the LCD screen

Strong backlighting can interfere with image capture. Remove or avoid excess light when possible.

Your screen may be broken or damaged. Try replacing it.

The image sensor or lense of the camera may be broken or damaged. Try replacing the lens assembly.

Your camera's flash will not work

May sure your flash is turned on. You can manually turn it on by pressing the button with the flash symbol on it and selecting the desired mode. The symbol looks like a lightning bolt-shaped arrow.
