Een geweldig team van studenten van ons onderwijsprogramma heeft deze wiki gemaakt.

Will not Turn on Properly

The device either does not turn on after charging a sufficient amount of time or does not turn on unless plugged in, and does not properly sustain power unplugged.

Faulty Battery

Plug in your laptop to make sure the battery is not just dead. After a sufficient amount of time, unplug it and test if it turns on. If the battery does not sustain power, it may be faulty and will need a replacement. Refer to the guide.

Device Overheats During Normal Use

The device will not properly cool itself.

Broken/ Malfunctioning Fan

Check to see if the fans are working properly. If they are, this might not be the issue. If they are slow, the fans might need to be cleaned. If the fans need to be replaced, refer to the guide.

Programs Are Slow

Various programs are either unresponsive or run too slowly.

Insufficient RAM

Remove screws from back of laptop and remove back covering. Find the two RAM chips and replace with two proper replacements. Refer to the replacement guide on how to remove and replace RAM.

Insufficient Graphics Card

The graphics card may not be powerful enough to run the program. Replacement for this is not found in our guide, but Google Searching "graphics card replacement MSI" should provide a sufficient explanation.

Cannot Insert Disc

The CD drive either will not open or will not close with a disc in it.

Faulty CD drive

The CD drive may need to be replaced. Refer to the replacement guide.

Screen does not Display Image

Screen either is cracked, has damaged pixels, or will not display images properly.

Damaged Screen

Refer to the guide on how to replace or repair the screen.

Faulty video card

If images are distorted, the video card may need to be replaced. This is not in our guide, but Google searching "video card replacement MSI" should provide a sufficient explanation.

File Corruption

The device cannot properly store files.

Faulty Hard Drive

Remove the large blue square with a circle in it. This is the hard drive. Undo the screws and remove and replace with a new proper hard drive. Refer to our guide on how to replace the hard drive. This will not replace files, so salvage any data that is not corrupted if possible.

Abnormally loud fan

Fan gets concerningly loud while the device is being used.

High power consumption

If your device is being charged while using it, the fan will become louder because it is using more power. Try unplugging the charger from the device or leave the device aside until the battery has charged.

High device usage

If your device has been turned on for a while, the device will naturally start to heat up which causes the fan to use more power and it becomes louder. Try powering off the device and leave it to cool down for at least 30 minutes before its next use.

Not enough airflow

The fan requires good airflow to keep it working at its best. If your device is in a case or in an area that restricts the airflow, it will cause the device to overheat which causes the fan to be loud. Try setting the device in an open and well ventilated area so that it gets the airflow it needs.

Processor maxed out

Processing power could be at its max, check to see if you have any other websites or applications opened up or if you're downloading anything. If any of that is true, make sure you close the applications or websites you're not using or cancel any downloads you don't want.

Malfunctioning fan

If the steps prior don't solve the issue, it could be that your device will require a new fan, refer to our fan replacement guide for how to do this.

Weak speaker and or not functioning

The device is hard to hear, making strange noises, or not making noise at all.

Low volume

A common problem seen is that the volume on the device is low. Check your device's keyboard for the volume buttons (looks like a speaker and can be found on the arrow keys on the bottom right of the keyboard), use the key that raises the volume to set a volume you like.

Undesired sound settings

The sound settings on your device could be the problem. Find the settings application on your device and look for the sound settings. There you could customize your settings to your liking.

Incorrect audio output.

It is possible that your device is using the wrong audio output. Make sure there aren't any headphones, speakers, or other audio changing devices connected to your device. If there is one, disconnect it from your device.

Broken speakers

If the steps prior don't solve the issue, it could be that your device needs a new speaker, refer to our speaker replacement guide for how to do this.

Consistently maxed out RAM

Programs not loading, crashing, or running slow.

Unnecessary programs

Right click on the application bar (found on the bottom part of the device's home screen), and select the task manager. Check task manager for unnecessary high performance programs being run, and close if able.

Low ram

If the step prior does not solve the issue, you might consider upgrading your device's RAM, refer to the replacement guide for how to do this.

Unable to download files

Can't install applications or more files.

Full storage

Check storage in settings. Delete unnecessary or unused apps, photos, videos, or anything that takes up storage space.

Poor internet connection

An error in downloading files could be due to a poor internet connection. If your internet is currently being used to download or run anything else on your device, it could cause your internet to be too slow to download your files. Try pausing any downloads or closing any programs you are running until your file has downloaded.

Low capacity storage

If there is nothing unnecessary to delete, you might need more space, refer to our SSD replacement guide.
