Bluetooth will not Connect
The device will not appropriately connect to wireless Bluetooth devices.
The Device you are Trying to Connect is out of Range
Attempt to bring the devices closer. If connection issues persist, turn your Bluetooth off and on to encourage the devices to reconnect.
You are not in Pairing Mode
Make sure all devices are in pairing mode. Go to your device's settings, and then make sure that Bluetooth is turned on. If you are unable to find this setting, use your device's search feature to find it.
You are Connected to a Different Device
Check your Bluetooth settings to make sure that your device is not connected to another device. The device may not allow you to have multiple connections, so a previously connected device that is still in use may be preventing you from connecting additional devices. Simply disconnect the old device, and replace it with the new one.
Device needs to Reset Connection
Attempt to disconnect and reconnect the devices. If this doesn't work, choose "Forget the Device", and attempt to reconnect the devices entirely.
Device needs to be Restarted
If the above guides didn't resolve the issue, restart all devices and try again. If your device will not shut down from inactivity, try holding down your power button to encourage the phone to shut down. Once shut down, re-hold your power button to turn your device back on, and try connecting again.
Device is Lagging
The device is operating slower than usual.
Device is not Connected to Internet
First, check your internet connection. Attempt to disconnect and reconnect back to your WIFI. You may have to reboot your WIFI router, and if that does not help, contact your internet service provider if that doesn’t work.
Too Many Unnecessary Tabs Open
Make sure you limit the number of tabs you have open, especially if you are doing something where the performance of your device matters. Disable or delete any unneeded extensions as well.
Not enough Storage Space
Delete unneeded files from your device. Clear your browsing data and download history. Uninstall apps that you don’t use.
Device needs to be Restarted
If the above guides didn't resolve the issue, attempt to restart your device. Restarting your device can help with lagging issues as well.
- Turn off your device by holding down the Power, or selecting the time in the bottom right and choosing Power.
- Wait 1 minute.
- While pressing and holding the Refresh key, tap the Power button.
Fails to Charge
Device battery does not recharge when the power adapter is plugged in.
Faulty Power Adapter
Check to make sure the cable is completely plugged into the charging port of the Pixelbook and also completely plugged into the wall outlet.
Faulty Outlet
The outlet you're using may be connected to a switch or not working properly, so try a different outlet on a different wall or different room. If this does not work you can deduct it as either a problem with the Pixelbook or cord itself.
Damaged Power Adapter
The power adapter may be damaged, so replacing it with a new cord may cause your device to charge. If not, you may need to look at the device itself.
Device not Updated
If you still have a little bit of power, you can update the Pixelbook to the latest version.
- Make sure it’s connected to WIFI.
- Click the time in the bottom right corner and then select “Settings”.
- Click “Menu” (three stacked lines) then select “About ChromeOS”.
- Click “Check for Updates”.
- If an update is available, it will download.
Device needs a Hardware Reset
If the above guides didn't resolve the issue, attempt to restart your device. Make sure the device is backed up before completing this step, as it will remove all personal data from the device.
- If your Pixelbook isn’t already turned off, press and hold the power button to do so.
- Wait 1 minute.
- Press and hold the refresh key (arrow shaped like a circle) and while holding, tap the power button.
- Plug in the power adapter.
Distorted Audio Quality
The audio from the speakers of the Pixelbook is poor or not working.
Sound is Muted
To check if your audio is muted, click your account picture on the bottom right of your screen and adjust the volume using the slider.
External Audio device is Plugged into your Pixelbook
Unplug any audio devices and go to the audio settings on the Pixelbook to make sure that the speaker you are trying to reach is selected for the audio.
Connected to a Bluetooth Device
Make sure the Pixelbook is not outputting the audio to a connected Bluetooth device. Do this by temporarily disabling Bluetooth in settings.
Pixelbook might need to be Reset
If the above guides didn't work for you, attempt to reset your device.
- Turn off your device by holding down the Power, or selecting the time in the bottom right and choosing Power.
- Wait 1 minute.
- While pressing and holding the Refresh key, tap the Power button.
Frozen or Unresponsive Black Screen
The device’s screen is frozen or showing a black screen.
Battery is not Charged
Plug your device into the standard issue charger. Allow the device to charge for at least 10 minutes. If the device does not power up, the battery may need to be replaced.
Brightness Setting is to Low
Go to your settings, and then proceed to display. Tap brightness level, and then adjust the slider as desired.
Device is Overheated
Check the bottom of the device by placing your hand underneath the device. If the device is hot, allow the device to cool down for roughly 15-20 minutes, and then try powering it on again.
Device might have a Hardware Issue
Flip the device into tablet mode and slowly close it. If the screen is responsive at certain angles, this is a hardware issue.
Recovery Screen needs to be Accessed
Press Esc + Refresh and then press Power. Let go of Power, and when a message pops up, let go of the other keys. Follow the instructions on the recovery page.

Following routine ChromeOS update today (8 Oct 2024) I closed my Pixelbook Go and re-opened it soon afterwards. Screen was black. Made sure it was fully charged (white LED in either USB-C when connected). Tried various key combinations Esc, Refresh, Ctl-Alt-Sh-R with Power button for wide range of hold-down timings. Prepared Chrome OS Recovery USB and repeated all the same power-up sequences. Nothing. Tried external HDMI screen via USB - HDMI adapter. Totally dead.
Is it repairable? I hate to bin it after 3 years of faultless service.

Similar thing happened to me with two of my pixelbooks on the 12th Oct 2024, both sadly had very low battery (my daughter is a menace for charging!) and were in the middle of an update. Now both laptops will not turn on or even charge (no led lights on charging port) I have managed to get one of them to trickle charge using an old phone charger but 12 hours of charging only gave me 3 mins of use. I'm going to see if I can leave it for a week on charge and try to powerwash it.
