== Community Repair ==

Everyone's heard of "DIY" ("Do It Yourself"). Well, it's high time we independent fixers and tinkerers band together and reach out to our communities to evangelize the value of community repair with collective tools, knowledge, and effort.

Community repair is a celebration of  the great things we can do when we pool our skills, knowledge, and resources. And, you can't overlook the value in building community by simply making new friends.

== What is an Event Like? ==

A ***[[Community Repair Getting Started|community repair event]]*** is a fun and unintimidating space where broken devices are explored and, with a little luck, repaired.

Requirements:

We take a page from personal finance guru and model our requirements after her own beliefs:

* People First! - Identify and network with those who are willing to share their skills and teach and train others how to repair and maintain the things in their lives.   People need to come first because that will help shape the ...

These requirements will change constantly, and will require frequent reality and gut checks.   Your people will change, and that may change the space you will need and, to a lesser extent, the tools you will need and use.

* Making friends
* Demystifying technology
* Skill sharing
* Enhancement of forensic and investigative skills
* Project-based and self-determined learning - That broken item is the project.   How it needs to be fixed will shape the learning curriculum.
* Learning how things work (and hopefully fixing things, too)

== Samen repareren ==

Iedereen heeft wel al gehoord van de doe-het-zelvers. Welnu, het is hoog tijd dat wij, onafhankelijke fiksers en klussers, samenkomen en onze buurten warm maken voor de geneugten van samen repareren met gezamenlijke tools, expertise en inspanning. Zodat binnenkort iedereen gehoord heeft van de reparateurs!

Als we onze vaardigheden, kennis en middelen delen om samen spullen te repareren, kunnen we zoveel meer bereiken dan iedereen afzonderlijk. En als kers op de taart maken we nog nieuwe vrienden ook!

== Hoe ziet een reparatiesessie eruit? ==

Een ***[[Community Repair Getting Started|gezamenlijke reparatiesessie]]*** is een leuke en uitnodigende ruimte waar gebroken toestellen worden onderzocht en, met een beetje geluk, hersteld.

Benodigdheden:

Wat heb je allemaal nodig om zo een gezamenlijke reparatiesessie in jouw buurt te organiseren? Hier is een stappenplan:

* Mensen eerst! - Identificeer en praat met de mensen die hun vaardigheden willen delen en zin hebben om andere mensen te leren repareren en toestellen te onderhouden. Mensen moet eerst komen, want zij zullen vorm geven aan de ...
* Ruimte - Zodra je genoeg teamleden hebt, kan je beslissen hoe jullie willen dat de ruimte er uit moet zien. Op zijn minst moet er plaats zijn voor het hele team van fiksers en de toestellen die ze repareren. Tafelruimte, elektriciteit en licht heb je ook nodig. Misschien kan iemand van je team gratis een lokaal regelen via een organisatie waar hij of zij lid van is? 
* Gereedschap - We gaan straks verder in op het benodigde gereedschap, maar hier willen we al op zijn minst 2 sets aanraden. Een set van gereedschap kan je gebruiken in jullie gewoonlijke ruimte. De draagbare set is een onderdeel van jullie gewoonlijke set en is bedoeld om te gebruiken tijdens sessies op verplaatsing, zoals Maker Fairs. Hoewel het strikt genomen geen gereedschap is, zouden we ook een fototoestel of videocamera aanraden om wat sfeerbeelden te maken.
* Zin voor avontuur (of op zijn minst zin om iets nieuws te proberen)
* Iets dat kapot is (als je wil repareren)

Wat je nodig hebt verandert na verloop van tijd, en je zal jezelf regelmatig moeten afvragen wat je moet veranderen. De mensen zullen veranderen, en bijgevolg kan ook het lokaal veranderen en kan het ook nodig zijn dat je ander gereedschap moet voorzien.

Doelstellingen (in lukrake volgorde):

* Vrienden maken
* Technologie toegankelijk maken
* Vaardigheden leren
* Ervaring opdoen met het uitpluizen van waar het probleem zich precies voordoet
* Zelf uitzoeken wat je moet leren. Het apparaat herstellen is de uitdaging, en je moet alles leren wat je nodig hebt om het te kunnen maken.
* Leren hoe spullen werken (en hopelijk ook hoe ze te herstellen)
