De'Longhi EC155 Troubleshooting
One of De'Longhi's espresso and cappuccino maker.
No espresso is coming out when I turn my pump on
No espresso is coming out of the machine.
Lack of water in reservoir
Check to see if there is ample water in the reservoir. See guide on replacing the reservoir.
Descale the machine as described in page 10 of the user's manual.
Reservoir not fully inserted
Reservoir needs to be fully pushed down to release the valve
The pump is making a loud noise
When running, the pump is making irregular, unexpected, loud noises.
Reservoir inserted incorrectly
Pull out the reservoir and re-position it. See guide on replacing the reservoir.
Machine won't turn on
No indication of power to the machine.
Not connected to a power source
Make sure the power cord is plugged into a working outlet.
Machine is not turned on
Flip the "on/off" switch to the "on" position.
The coffee froth is too light
The froth is coming out quicker and thinner than expected.
Ground coffee not pressed down firmly enough
Press a little harder, but not too much.
Not enough ground coffee
Add more ground coffee .
Ground coffee is too coarse
Remove any large chunks or grind the chunks to match the size of the rest of the ground coffee.
The coffee froth is too dark
The froth is coming out slower and thicker than expected.
Ground coffee is pressed down too firmly
Press a little softer, but not too much.
There is too much ground coffee
Remove any excess amount of coffee.
The espresso boiler outlet is blocked
Refer to the Cleaning the Boiler Outlet guide on page 10 of the user's manual.
The filter is blocked
The ground coffee is too fine
Remove fine coffee and replace with coarser coffee.
Coffee is too damp
Let coffee air-dry.
The espresso coffee is cold
The coffee is not the ideal temperature of 140 degrees Fahrenheit.
No preheating was performed
Refer to the Preheating the Espresso Coffee Unit guide on page 8 of the user's manual. Also, wait for the indicator light to turn on.
No milk froth is formed when making a cappuccino
Milk not cold enough
Make sure skim milk is used at refrigerator temperature.
Cappuccino frother is dirty
Thoroughly clean the holes in the cappuccino frother as depicted in figure 21.
