Not Connecting to Wireless Network
The camera is not accessible from a computer over WI-FI connection.
Camera Not Connected to Router
Double-check that the wireless router is functioning appropriately, reset the router if needed. Rerun camera pairing with the router and if necessary directly connect the camera to a router via an Ethernet cable. If this does not work, press the reset button found on the back of the camera with a bent paperclip for 10 seconds until the camera resets. You will have to reconnect the camera with your Wi-Fi network.
Wireless Signal Obstructed by Objects
Too many objects between the router and camera can impede the wireless connection. If possible, try making the path between the router and camera shorter and less obstructed. If not possible, use an old router placed closer to the camera to act as a signal booster for the main router.
Wi-Fi Antenna is Faulty
If the previous fixes don’t work, it is possible that the camera’s wireless hardware is faulty. Before cracking open the camera, it may be a good idea to test the camera on a friend’s wireless set-up and computer. If even in this scenario the camera does not work over WI-FI, it is likely that the camera itself is to blame. Replacing the wireless antenna may fix the problem. Replace the antenna using the following guide.
Camera Not Turning On
The camera fails to activate, makes no initialization movements, and no indicator lights illuminate.
Camera Not Receiving Electricity
First, check to see that the camera is plugged into its adapter and the adapter to the wall outlet. While at the outlet, make sure that if the outlet is a GFCI type outlet, that it has not accidentally been tripped, and if so reset the outlet. If this doesn’t seem to be the problem, check to see that there is no tripped circuit breakers/blown fuses for the circuit that the camera is attached to, and if tripped/blown, reset or replace the breaker/fuse.
The AC Adapter is Faulty
It is possible that the adapter has shorted. Check to see if the wire is frayed or if the plug on either end of the adapter is bent. Also see if there is any indication of arcing, such as a dark/burnt line coming from the holes of the wall outlet. If this is the case, the plug may need to be replaced. Take note of the specifics written on the plug as to what is the correct replacement. Adapter in the US is Model No. AMS3-0502500FU, Input 100-240V-50/60Hz 0.5A/28VA, Output 5V 2.5A, with a Center-Positive Polarity.
The Camera’s Internal Components are Defective
If there is no fault found in the AC adapter or the general electrical supply, it is possible that the camera’s internal components, including the motherboard and power input need replacing. If this is the case, you will need to disassemble the camera and replace non-functional components. Follow this guide to replace the motherboard.
Images and Video Poor Quality
When security camera image is not clear/ It is fuggy /it does not show pictures.
(Do not forget for any security camera’s image quality problems sometimes by “RESTART” method, problems can be solved automatically.)
Dirty Camera Lens
A non-clear image and fuggy mood of an image could cause by the dirt and dust on the lens of the camera. Clean the lens of the camera with a soft and clean cloth.
Broken Lens
take a look at the lens of the camera and replace the lens if any scratches or fracture exist on the lens. Follow this guide to replace the lens.
The Extension Cable Run is too Long or the WiFi Signal is too Weak
If you are using a wireless security camera, check the extension cable and make sure it runs in the proper range and camera is in proper distance from the router, sometimes long extension cable can cause unclear camera’s image.
Make sure the tips in IP camera WiFi works well and the wireless IP camera got the right IP address, for all issues with wireless connection refer to the first part of the troubleshooting page “Not connecting to wireless network”.
Disorder Brightness and Contrast
If the picture is too bright, try to change the location of the camera and replace it where it is not in confronting with direct light and sun. Adjust the brightness and contrast setting of the security camera.
The Resolution of Your Camera is too Low
The D-Link security camera is an HD system resolution. So, make sure the resolution of the video picture is set to 1280*720p. Also, check if your monitor resolution is matched with your cameras.
Cameras Failing to Focus
To manually adjust the focus and zoom setting of your D-Link DCS-5222L Security Camera, rotate the focusing ring around the lens clockwise or anti-clockwise.
Video and Images Do not Display
A black screen on the monitor which can happen after moving components or cables.
The channel shows no image on the monitor but the infrared light on the front of the camera is on (commonly used for the first time security camera setting on a new monitor)
If you see the infrared lights on the front of the camera is on and the setting panel on the monitor, it means the camera has been turned on. Then follow the methods on replacement guide step by step.
Go to the setting [Guide] and select [Auto-connected mode]. if there is still no image follow step below:
Go to main menu [System ] --> [ Digital] --> [Digital Channels] --> select the channel that does not have image --> select [Enable] and then press [Add] --> click search and then double click on the cameras IP that you are looking for --> finally click [Ok] --> [Ok]. Now, the image should show on the monitor.
Covert Mode is On
On the display setting, make sure the “Covert” is disabled because the enabling covert mode turns the camera display off.
Loose Connections or Loss of Power
Check all the connections and make sure they are tight.
• Camera connected to DVR
• Camera connected to Power Splitter
• Power Splitter and Power Adapter to the wall outlet
After making sure that all connections are tight, unplug the camera from wall outlet and plug it back in. If still there is no image, try to connect the camera directly to the power adapter rather than a power splitter.
Camera Fails To Rotate
The camera will not rotate around or up and down.
Motion detector not set up
In order for the motion detector feature to work, it must first be set up on your mydlink Like app. In the settings section, you click on the motion detection tab and activate it. You can then control what area you want to detect motion and decide the sensitivity.
Gears inside camera are broken
If the gears inside the camera are broken they need to be replaced.
One of the motors has shorted
If the camera will not rotate in a certain direction, one of the motors inside may be broken. If this is the case that motor will need to be replaced.
Audio is distorted
When listening to recordings, the audio isn’t clear.
The speaker is damaged
When playing back a recording if the sound is distorted the microphone may be damaged if this is the case it needs to be replaced.
Camera Picking up Electrical Interference
If you are hearing static or feedback sounds the location of your camera could be the problem. Other electronic devices in the area can cause the interference with the microphone in the camera.
