Audio is Muffled or Distorted
The sound coming out of the phone is difficult to hear or understand.
Weak Cellular Connection
Check the phones cellular connection. If the connection appears to be weak, the audio may skip, distort, or become mute during a phone call, video stream, etc. Attempt to connect to a strong WiFi router or relocate to an area with a better cellular connection. If the quality of the audio does not recover, consider possible hardware complications.
Faulty Headphones or Audio Jack
Test the audio through the phone’s external speakers and then through a headphone set. If the audio is only having problems while using headphones, the headphones or the audio jack may be at fault. If the headphone set is working but the audio is still cutting in and out, then the audio jack may be loose or obstructed. Check to make sure that it is clean and fully inserted in the phone.
Dirty or Broken Speaker
If the audio distortion is coming from the outer speakers, check for any debris or dust that could be clogging the speaker and interfering with the sound. If the debris is too deep into the speaker or it just appears to have broken, follow this guide to replace it.
Phone will not charge
The smartphone does not appear to be charging.
Charging Port is Obstructed
Ensure there is no debris or dirt inside of the charging port that is preventing the charger from fully connecting to the phone. The dirt can be removed by brushing or blowing it off.
Incompatible Charger
Ensure that the charger is fully plugged in and the charge light turns on. If the charge light does not turn on while the charger is connected, the charger is faulty. Consider using another micro USB charger.
Faulty Battery
If the phone will not turn on without being connected to the charger or will not hold a charge, the battery is faulty. The battery can be replaced using this guide. [add link]
Unresponsive touchscreen
Screen does not respond when touched and appears to be frozen.
Dirty Screen
Clean your screen with an alcohol wipe and make sure that your hands are free of substances. If the screen and/or the user’s hands are dirty, the screen will not respond to your touch as it is much harder to detect.
Frozen Screen
If the device does not respond to touch or buttons, it is frozen. Turn off your device, let it sit for a few seconds, and then restart it. Your screen could be frozen and rebooting your device can solve whatever underlying issue was causing it.
Faulty or Broken Screen
If the screen does not respond after cleaning and a reboot, it is faulty. Follow this repair guide to replace it. [add link]
Microphone does not Register
Audio is unheard or is unclear to others during calls and videos.
Bad Connection
If it is difficult to be heard during calls, increase the volume on both devices. Additionally, bad cellular connection can decrease call quality. Move to an area with better reception and try again. Putting the phone in airplane mode will disconnect the phone from cellular data momentarily and turning it off will reconnect the phone to cellular data which may result in a better audio connection. Restarting the device to restore software and reset and software states that are “stuck” may also help with this problem.
Microphone is Obstructed
If the phone is in a case, remove it as the microphone may be blocked by the case. You should also check voice inlet hole for debris/dust. If visual obstructions are present do not insert anything to remove the obstruction as it may be pushed further in to the device. Use a strong vacuum to try sucking the obstruction loose or use a dust cloth to try attracting the obstruction out of the microphone inlet.
Low Storage Space
Phone is low on storage and will not allow for app downloads or file storage.
Unnecessary Apps and Files Using Storage
Unused applications downloaded on your device can be uninstalled to free up storage on your phone. Files present on the devices such as pictures, can also be deleted to give the device more storage space.
No Internal Storage Available
If no applications or files on your phone can be deleted, a microSD can be used for external storage. While this is external storage that can be removed at any time, when inserted in the phone, one can access all the files on it.
