Alpine MRV-M500 Troubleshooting

The sound quality from your speakers is muffled or distorted.

Check for rips or tears on the face of the speaker. Any rips on the face of the speaker could cause the sound to become distorted. If the speaker seems intact, test it with another device to determine whether it is functioning properly. If the speaker fails to function, a replacement may be needed.

Check the dials on the back of the device labeled GAIN and LP FILTER. Make sure to check the dials associated with the channel that you are using. Try adjusting the dials and see if the sound quality changes.

Check to make sure all wires are securely connected and are not loose. You may need to check the connection ports on the device to be sure they are securely connected. If the ports are loose or seem faulty, you may need to replace them.

The amplifier does not show any sign of powering on .

The device's fuses are located on the back of the device between the speaker output and the power supply. Use needle nose pliers to pull the fuses out of the device. Once the fuses have been removed, check the metal strip located on the inside of the fuse. If the metal strip is broken, the fuse has been blown and will need to be replaced.

Open the device up and search for large cylinders connected to the circuit board. If they are distorted, bulged or there is some liquid or residue around the capacitors, they will need to be replaced. To replace electrolytic capacitors, see this guide.

Open up the device and remove the circuit board. Check the underside of the board for any locations where wires are touching one another. This may indicate a short circuit, in which case the circuit board will most likely need to bereplaced.

The indicator light on top of the amplifier is solid red.

Place your hand near the device, if it seems unnaturally hot, the device may be overheating. Make sure there is sufficient space and ventilation around the device and wait for it to cool down before attempting to power on again.
