Sounds like the headphone jack is messed up. Usually the tablet can sense when headphones are plugged in and shuts off the speakers. Sounds like yours thinks the headphones are plugged in until you actually do plug them in and then it thinks they're unplugged! It's also possible something is wrong in the operating system but I think that's unlikely. I've sometimes been able to get headphone jacks working by cleaning crud out of them, so that might be worth a try. If that doesn't work it probably needs to be replaced.

I would just use the solder that's already on the board. Just heat the contact with your iron until it's loose, and then grab it with tweezers and lift it away. Set it in position on the other board and hold it in place with the tweezers while you heat it with the iron until the solder melts. Remove the iron and continue to hold it in position until it cools and the solder hardens (probably less than 10 seconds) and you should be good to go.

check eBay. Should be plenty available there... just be sure the read the description carefully and purchase from a seller with good feedback.

Could be a bad sim reader. The contacts in the reader are pretty delicate and can easily bend or break. If that is the problem, it would need a new sim reader soldered in by someone with experience in that kind of repair.

What you describe is very similar to the symptoms of a bad power button, but there are some things that aren't typical. For instance, when a power button is bad, it's usually hard to get it into recovery mode, and it may restart or shut itself down once it's there. Power buttons that are working intermittently or partially stuck can have some weird symptoms though, so there's still a possibility that's what's wrong. If it is a bad power button, it will probably need to be replaced. Not sure what kind of power button that phone takes... many Samsung buttons are soldered on, but some are on a flex cable and can be replaced without soldering. The only thing I've found that helps a power button (other than replacement) is that sometimes putting some electrical contact cleaner on it (if it's the soldered on kind) and pressing the button a bunch will help. If you don't have any electrical contact cleaner, you can try some isopropyl alcohol with a bit of wd-40 in it. It's a long shot, but it worked for me a...

Looks very much like the LCD is cracked to me. I think you'll need a new LCD.

This is a pretty common problem with the Kindle Fires. The USB port is poorly designed and comes loose from the circuit board easily. It usually requires the port to be resoldered (or a new port soldered on) in order to fix it. Unless you have pretty good micro soldering skills, you'll need to take it to a repair shop for repair. There are also a number of people who offer a mail in service to repair this (check eBay).

The dots are most likely something that got in between the layers of the backlight. It's also possible that they're due to damage to the layers of the backlight. The backlight has several layers which diffuse the light evenly over the whole screen and any damage or foreign material in there will show up on the display.

I know that on these phones the back will push on the battery which will push on the back of the screen and flex it slightly. This is especially an issue if the battery is starting to bulge a little. Perhaps the slight flexing of the screen is causing a problem somehow?

I filed a slot in them and used a straight screwdriver to remove.... might be hard to do with some of the screws that are down in holes.
