Yes, check the motor <https://forums.tdiclub.com/index.php?thr...-jetta-door-latch-fix.451892/>. The OBD (on-board diagnostic) tells you. I had this issue 4 years ago with the pax door in a 2007 VW Rabbit. There are guides in the net how to get to the motor. There is even a description there that explains why the electromechanical buildup suffers from a design flaw: Since the motor can run back and forth, it has to stop at either end. There, it is stuck(!) and draws so-called short-circuit current that burns the brushes and the commutator. (Only in later designs a smart clutch makes the motor idle, thus making it draw only no-load current.) The entire inner surrounding is black of CuO (copper oxide), preventing the motor to run. If you open the motor and clean it inside, you may have peace for a while. Opening the motor is tricky - I've described this elsewhere. As a precaution a bought a stock of these motors Mabuchi FC-280PD-20150. They were made in a Saigon suburb and available from Brazil(!) only. So...

The board is scorched by an overcurrent fire. The reason doesn't matter anymore - maybe a loose part having shorted the circuit. It should have been smellable. You must replace the board. Look for a replacement board (eBay, iFixit etc.) and the procedure description in iFixit or elsewhere. I do this scores of times with a different MacBook, thus prolonging its life for eternities. With my iPhone 7, the fade began while wildly wiping the windows back and forth. After hours of online search, the hint to the Settings worked: Settings > Display & Brightness > BRIGHTNESS was at minimum. Shifting at right fixed the issue.

Years ago, I had to return/replace this type of a battery several times because of erratic behavior in the laptop. Suddenly I had one that lasted for 5 years before not taking any charge anymore. So, I'm going to order a new one hopefully without having to restart the return charade BECAUSE:

I observed that the battery's CONTACTs are unreliably INTERMITTENT. So far, it helped for a while moving it in and out in order to chafe the contacts' surfaces against each other.
