This was hard! I tried using plastic pry tools, but they did not work. A metal tool did, but make sure to watch a video or two, to see what you actually are dealing with. After the videos it went quite smoothly.

Went very well. I had a dead HTC One X that I replaced 4 years ago. I came across it a few weeks ago and thought to give a new battery a try, to see if I can get the photos off it. It did not charge (no lights) and did not turn on anymore. I ordered a battery from AliExpress and it came in today. Followed this guide, and yes, it turned on again! And charging is also working properly now. So I am happy, now I can get my photos and use the phone as a Android 4.2 testing target for the apps I develop. Wonderful.

Men, I really hoped we would see replaceable RAM or SSD. I am still waiting out with a fully upgraded Macbook Pro 13 2012 non retina.

Guess I have a little longer to wait for a replacement. Nice to see the keyboard fixed though.

I added a 500GB Samsung SSD and also replaced the i5 2500S with a i7 2600. It works like a breeze! Had some issues with the ram, causing beeps after reassembly, but fortunately that was solved when switching the ram sticks a bit. Now I have a very fast iMac and together with 20GB of ram, a nice machine to do development on. Hoping that newer iMacs will again be more serviceable, but for now I am happy with this one!

It's ridiculous that the RAM is soldered on. I see a lot of people trying to rationalize it into something good, but for me this is Apple going too far. It's purely a profit focused decision, it has no actual benefit for the user and will make the device become obsolete much faster. These products should be boycotted.

Why does step 8 say that the glass panel is fused, while step 7 applaudes the non-fused nature?

On A1237, the yellow screw is a bit longer then the two orange ones.

I bought a tri wing y1 from Wera, but it was way to big.... I guess I'll buy the ifixit bit set, but otherwise I would try y0.

--edit-- Looking at the photo's here of the tri-wing screws, it more looks like my macbook has different screws. Mine are black and as large as the other normal screws.

Looks like the 2010 version has y0 somehow.

When reassembling make sure this cable is really deep in it's socket. (Use some force with the spudger wedging it in between the cable and battery). If you don't, you won't be able to power up the board. I had 2 logicboards that I thought were dead, but it turned out the cable was not inserted enough. Jump starting them with the jump pads did nothing (with or without cable connected), but connecting the cable properly made the board come alive. Really check this!!

Note: the 2009 and 2010 model differ here. On one the 3 point connector is left and 2 point is right, on the other one the 3 point connector is right and 2 point is left.
