I have had this problem with iPhones and have fixed it by reseating the digitizer connector. In some cases I had to replace the whole digitizer in order to fix it. If you are comfortable taking your touch apart, use this ifixit guide iPod Touch 4th Generation Front Panel Replacement I would start by disconnecting the ribbon cable, cleaning the connectors with 91% isopropyl alcohol, and then letting it dry for at least an hour. Hi Dan, There is no inverter at all in the Unibody Macbook Pros. They use LED bars to light the display, instead of the older florescent tubes. Inverters "ramp up" the power from the circuit to provide higher voltages that are required for powering florescent tubes in CCFL LCD type displays. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CCFL_invert...) If you have worked on older MacBooks and feel comfortable soldering on the logic board, I would first look at this thread: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.p... I know it is very long, but I used it to bring my mid 2009 pro back to life!! The problem for me, and many others, was a blown fuse found in the display circuit. It is tiny (2mm X 4mm) and if blown will cause the backlight to not power on. There are many companies on eBay that do the repairs, but at least test the fuse first!! It might be scary to think about having to solder on the Logic Board, but read the thread, many of us have had major success!! hope this helps! hyde

1. The "FAT" model PS3's are known for their bluray drives going bad. Many argue that it is caused by firmware upgrades, but we may never know what truly causes it. Have you tried any other disks besides games?? Try a bluray movie, regular DVD, and also an audio CD. There are two separate lasers in the drive. One for Games and Bluray DVDs, and another one for DVDs, CD, and PS2 games. If it plays DVDs and CDs but doesn't recognize Bluray DVDs or games, then the bluray laser has most likely failed. It is a fairly easy to change the drive out or just the just the bluray laser. Plus, it's not terribly expensive if you're willing to give it a shot! As for the games downloaded directly to your console: You CAN and WILL be able to play downloaded games. This is ONLY way you will be able to play games on your PS3 in the future until you replace the bluray drive. Hope this helps! Hyde

I had a similar problem with a water damaged 15" mid 2009 Unibody Pro. It would not charge, not recognize the connected power adapter everytime, and would sometimes display a dim green light. I changed the battery and it still did not remedy the problem I eventually disconnected the led battery life indicator ribbon from the logic board and it started charging immediately!! Once I removed the led indicator, it was obvious that it had shorted out due to water damage. So before trying a new logic board, I would definitely try this!!
