Hi. unfortunately, it's the rest of an antenna from the little wifi and bluetooth module that stuck to the back of your screen when you took it apart. I've had the same problem because in original screens, the glue has often amalgamated with these antennae and it's very difficult to remove them even with special repair tools (hot air gun or heating coil). Hi Oana. I had exactly the same symptoms (255%...) after changing my old swollen battery with a "new" one bought from ifixit. Furthermore, my surface pro 4 tablet only worked with the charger connected. I tested by disconnecting the battery from the motherboard with a small piece of cardboard to make sure my tablet still booted, which it did. Then, thanks to the powercfg system command report, it turned out that the "new" battery was over 5 years old and had undergone numerous charge/discharge operations. I also found on other forums that the indication -1 mWh meant a dead battery. Ifixit reimbursed me for it and I bought another one on Amazon which allows me to use the tablet autonomously again.

Hi Eric. First of all, you need to make sure that your problem isn't with the spare battery. If your computer starts up with the charger alone, you'll know that the battery is at fault, as was the case for me. The only difference was that I could boot up with the charger but the battery icon showed 255% charge and as soon as I removed the charger, the tablet shut down. In your case, you'll need to disconnect the battery from the motherboard and see if your tablet starts up again, just with the charger. To do this, you'll have to dismantle the tablet again (I feel for you and hope you haven't glued the screen back together). You can avoid completely dismantling the motherboard and some peripherals by unscrewing just a few screws on the left side of the motherboard (with the tablet in the normal position, with the wifi antennae and webcam...

I had the same problem after replacing the battery on my surface pro 4 tablet and destroying the original touchscreen, which was almost impossible to dismantle. After an initial negative experience with the surface pro 4 replacement screen from ifixit (fortunately reimbursed), which caused the well-known flickering problem, I finally managed to replace it with a surface pro 5 screen, which is compatible. I couldn't find it at ifixit but it's easily available on the big online shop ;o) ATTENTION: make sure that the latter is supplied with the adapter cable for the surface pro 4. After that, I also encountered the problem of the non-functional touch screen. I'd taken the NTrig module from my old screen and stuck it back on with standard double-sided adhesive tape. I completely agree with this comment about programmed obsolescence. It's obvious that the MS Surface tablet was designed to be almost impossible to dismantle and therefore to be throw away in the event of a breakdown. Despite this precious tutorial and the use of the iOpener, it was impossible for me to remove the touch screen without breaking it. I had the same misfortune with the wifi and Bluetooth antennae on the top part, the metal strips were completely amalgamated with the adhesive and I had to sacrifice them to remove the pieces of glass. So, a word of warning to the next (very) brave troubleshooting adventurers: replacing the battery on a pro surface is a very very... delicate operation. Good luck!
