Adjustment IS required, but was not covered. Given the torque involved, neither red nor blue Loctite is needed. Spindle nut replacement is manufacturer-recommended, though many re-use them indefinitely with no apparent problem: it’s your call. Grease is an excellent idea, and part of any brake job. Personally, I use high-temp synthetic brake grease, though white lithium is probably OK for the relatively lower operating temperature of rear drum brakes vs. front disks. Brakes can certainly develop a noise, given the moving parts in close contact, especially without lubrication.
Very true: I was a given a 2005 Focus with a glowing ABS light and when I pulled the drums to inspect, sure enough: whoever replaced the drums neglected to install the sensor rings.
