I had the auto exposure issue on my D5100, following the in depth tear down https://fr.ifixit.com/Tutoriel/Nikon+D51... to detach the back cover (with the lcd), I could indeed find that it was just one of the zero force insertion ribbon that had its lid opened thus the contact was wrong. Closing the small lid did the trick - that’s what the guy in the uTube video was also saying, and it’s true - however I would not recommend using the video but rather the cristal cleat iFixit manual.
Took me an hour and a half, the hardest part is the usb removal and the vibrator motor + power button, as they have stickers. Then there is something to be careful about, the removal of the front camera + light sensor: there is a 'holding part' that is clipped above, and it's not obvious that it's separated from the camera and sensor below - careful not to lift the camera before unclipping this. The rest is quite easy.
This tutorial is incomplete, for instance the 'vibrator motor' removal does not specifies that this also removes the power button, and the removal of the front camera and light sensor is omitted, and the fact that heating the usb port part is very helpful if not mandatory before lifting it. I followed the video tutorial here which is complete: Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Display Assembly Video Tutorial Replacement
