This is fixable. You need a new screen assembly and possibly a home button. The screen LCD is damaged. When you put in a new screen, this will fix the touch issues and black spots as well as the cracks. If your home button still work when pressed, I don't recommend changing as you cannot reprogram a new Touch ID button at this time. Hello. For the iPad Air 2, the home button assemblies are going to be the same. They do not use different home button between the models. You can use a home button from a different device or a new part. Keep in mind that the Touch ID function is not going to work at all. Apple makes it so new buttons cannot be reprogrammed. The click feature will work with no issues. Be very careful removing and installing these components are they are very easily damaged.

That's a different method then I have heard before. Never used toothpaste to clean the screen scratches. If you have it stuck in the edges and the ear speaker, there are a few ways to go about this but this would be the best method. Tools will be required but I can give you the other way as well. First, I would unplug the battery and then remove screen completed from the device. This will allow you to easily clean the excess of toothpaste on the edge of the screen as well as the edge of the phone. Then, if there is toothpaste inbetween the glass mid frame bezel and the glass, I would carefully use a razor blade to get the toothpaste out. This is clean the screens and the edges. Now, the ear speaker. The best thing to do is remove the ear speaker bracket, then the speaker, carefully remove the flex cable as it is easily broke. This now allows you to get to the speaker mesh. You will need to replace or clean this very good or replace it. I recommend replacing but you could try and clean it with rubbing...

Can you see the Apple logo when you are turning the device on while holding a flashlight to it? If so, the it would be your sceeen or the backlight fuse. I would double check to make sure all the connection are tight and not loose or misaligned. If that's all good, I would try a new screen then. This would be a cheaper fix. If the new screen doesn't work, then I would start to look at the motherboard.

Sounds like your battery is failing to due liquid. Any time you get liquid on a battery, you want to go with a new one. I would first try a new battery before replacing the daughterboard. Try to find another repair shop that specializes in motherboard repairs. They would be the best at truly diagnosing the device to see what the problem is. I would use google and search nationally. Hope this helps.

It sounds like your backlight ic chip on your motherboard has failed. Try and shine a flashlight at the screen to see if you can see anything on the screen. It is not very common but more common when using lower quality screens in replace of the original screens. If not backlight, then you would need to take to a professional to get repaired.

@gigabit87898 is right. Pretty common for things to get into the charging port on these devices. Be very careful sticking anything into the charging port to clean it. There are 8 pins on the bottom that can get easily damaged. Best to use a tooth pick, only use a metal pick if you know where the prongs are and can avoid them. Use a flashlight to help you see what is in there. Can be lint, can be debris, can be rice (if you used that but not recommend for water damage as it speeds up corrosion process). Do these things and your phone will be up and running in no time.
