During the midframe removal, be careful and do not put too much torsional stress on the loudspeaker pickup wires (to the right of the main camera). It’s not that difficult to crush or shear the pickups there. Doing so will render your phone silent.
Note: Only the first 2 generations of PS3 fats have removable Wifi/BT cards. If you have a third generation fat (VER-100 motherboard or later) the Wifi/BT chips are integrated into the board and thereby NOT removable.
How is adding a piece of paper on the front camera connector going to solve an issue with the LCD connector? I thought the main issue is that the CPU packaging is overheating and causing solders above to come loose…
I would recommend putting some double sided padded tape above the connector labeled MB once you get the connector back on - that's the infamous touchscreen cable that comes loose once in awhile. This will effectively wedge the cable in place and keep it from falling out.
No, you should not have to upflash the BIOS and re-tattoo the machine - Assuming your replacement board has the proper OS entitlements already tattooed onto the UEFI , it should be picked up by the OS (Windows 10, I hope) and automatically re-activated. In fact, I imaged a Miix 2 8 out using a bootable USB drive + Clonezilla, and was able to image it into a new board and have everything re-activate just fine.
