Oh so what comes next? Does the other end have a connector that can be removed or is it soldered to the PCB? I assume the battery is an 18650 but I can't be 100% certain because there is no image showing the battery specs so I have to tear it down and then order a battery instead of having one that I can just swap in. Actually can the battery just be swapped out or is there soldering involved or do you need to purchase a battery with the connectors already spot welded it?

I totally agree with you Albert about Samsung reusing the same name for different devices.  Makes it a lot harder than it should be when trying to search for solutions to a device problem and more so when searching for parts.  This is more prevalent when you have an older Note 8.0 tablet and the search results predominantly display Note 8 phone returns.  If I had any hair left I would likely pull it all out.

I am answering a 2 year old post but this is for those who may have the same or similar issue in the future.

When I was putting the battery connector back on that it didn't sit flat against the board before I put pressure on the top of the connecter to press it back into its socket. I then took time to examine the battery connector socket and saw it consisted of long thin vertical pins. I deduced that if the battery connector was not aligned correctly to the pins on the motherboard then it may be very easy to bend one or more of the pins in a way that they wouldn't mate up with the opposing female part on the connector. That sure would cause a battery charging issue. If you feel too much resistance when pressing the connector back into the socket then stop and make sure it is all aligned correctly. I know, not easy with the size, the black connector and black socket. A spudger can be used on the battery side of the connector to raise it to a level position prior to applying pressure to the top of it.

I used this teardown when I inserted a SIM card into the MicroSD card slot. DOH, didn't realise I was wearing the wrong glasses. This was a neighbour's brand new device so the teardown saved me having to replace the unit as it was purchased online and Samsung refused to honour the warranty due to it not being purchased in country.

I inherited my Nexus 5 when my eldest child upgraded to a Nexus 6. I installed Marshmallow when it was released but 3 or so weeks later it started chewing through the battery. Factory reset but nothing change so I used your excellent instructions to replace the battery. The original battery was only 18 months old but was swelling up and was trying to push the rear cover off. Something to watch for if you have a phone cover.
