Your screen may need to be calibrated to the stylus. After powering on your LeapPad, simultaneously hold down the Home button and volume up button to navigate you to the Parent Settings menu and select “Screen Calibration” option. Select all five “+” signs one at a time to complete the calibration.
One possibility is that the volume could be muted, so try turning the volume up. It could also be the result of a damaged speaker (water damage, dropping the device, etc.) If this is the case you'll want to look into the Speaker Replacement Guide.
