I am an Honors Biomedical engineering student at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth on the premedical track. After completing my Bachelor's in Biomedical engineering, I hope to go onto medical school and focus my studies in women's health.
Over the course of my time at UMassD, I've been employed as a research assistant on campus, teaching assistant at a Summer science program and been team lead on a variety of projects. My favorite project so far has been a research review and investigation in 3D bioprinting vessels. Currently, I am working on my honors thesis, investigating the effects of microplastics in human placenta on early fetal development.
Prior to my research on campus, I worked as an editor and intern at my local community television station. The images below were taken from my senior year of high school where I had the pleasure of filming a State Championship game at Gillette Stadium.
Due to my academic success and commitment to my education, I've made Chancellor's List twice as well as Dean's list. Outside of class, I am a member of BMES (Biomedical Engineering Society) and the Synthetic Biology Club. I believe my communication, writing and academic skills paired with my motivation to succeed make me a useful addition to any team.
In my free time I enjoy writing, sculling, practicing piano, travelling and spending time with my dog. During the Summers, I also enjoy volunteering as an assistant coach at my local rowing center.
Currently, I have very little experience fixing things. I have basic handy skills for repairing broken door handles and furniture, however I've never been in a position where I needed to rebuild anything overly complex. One item I feel would be useful to learn how to repair is a rowing machine. Last Summer, some of the rowing machines at the center I volunteer at were set aside because the chain had no resistance when pulled, regardless of the setting. I think it would be useful to learn how to properly replace the chain and fix the resistance problem on a Concept2 rowing machine.
