Mijn probleem
I, like lots of others, had YLOD occur. Totally didn't think it would happen to me, especially after owning the console for seven years but it had finally conked out on me. So I asked a few friends for their advice about what to do about my PS3. Thought maybe I should just get another one, but retail charges ridiculous amounts of money and I didn't have a lot of cash to throw around so one of my friends suggested that I fix it on my own. Looked instrctions up online, and that's how I found the site.
Mijn oplossing
Never took apart a PS3 before. But I thought that since I've fixed and modded my PS2 and Dreamcast that maybe I could give my PS3 a go just as well.
The repairs went well. Getting all the parts disassembled really wasn't that difficult! The detail on the instructions helped immensely and made the difference between preserving my system or giving it to an electronic waste disposal service!
Mijn advies
Patience is very important for the project. I'm by no means a pro, but I managed to get the system running within a few hours. Give some hours (2-5) to get out done. And if anything when reassembling the PS3 make sure all the screws are in place otherwise you could have a hard time getting the cover to fit. Spent way too much on that one!!!! Hopefully there will be a good tutorial on reassembling the PS3!
