Mijn probleem
About three weeks ago, I tore my ACL, MCL and meniscus in my knee. Surgery was scheduled for last Thursday. I was playing Madden on my PS3 on Monday, and I went to grab something from the kitchen. As I was hobbling away from the couch, I heard the beeps that indicate that the Playstation had shut off. I found this curious, but thought that maybe I somehow accidentily shut it off with the controler. I tried to turn it back on, and after the first attempt worked for a minute, I restarted it a second time and saw the dreaded yellow light. I looked up online what this meant, and was certainly disheartened, as I was about to have a lot of couch time with no PS3 to entertain me. It was then I stumbled upon your site, watched the how to video and figured that this was definitely something I was capable of doing.
Mijn oplossing
I ordered the kit Monday night, it arrived the day after my surgery on Friday. I was way to incappacitated the first couple of days to attempt the repair, but I was able to get to it Sunday morning. All in all, it went smoothly. I bought my PS3 in 2007, so a few of the componenets were slightly different from the instructions and video. I spent a while looking for the memory card reader to detach, which does not seem to exist in my unit, nor does the rectangular control board referenced in steps 10-12. Other than that, everything went well. I was easily able to remove the old thermal paste and heat pads, get the solder to run, and reapply everything. Once I had everything back together, it took me two tries to get the dvd slot in the outer cover to line up correctly, but that was it. I was very psyched when I turned it on and ran Madden.
Mijn advies
I guess the only thing I wish I had known was that my version was slightly different, but that was easy to figure out and adapt what I was looking at on the table to the instructions I was given. I found it best to use both the written instructions and the video to help ascertain exactly what is being reffered to in the different steps.
