I initially took my PS3 to a local flee market for a $60 YLOD repair before doing any extensive online research for myself. The PS3 lasted for about 2 months with moderate gameplay before going back out. After watching the guys at the flee market and realizing that they lost a few of my screws I figured I'd do it myself this time around. Finding this site was awesome! I probably spent more time drinking a few cold ones and watching Kobe get routed by OKC then actually doing the repair. Everything went smooth except for me breaking the ribbon latch on the motherboard for the dvd reader. I was lucky and able to re-secure it with some good ol' electric tape. It hasn't been a week yet but I've probably logged about 12 or more gaming hours without any problems yet! (Fingers crossed!) I would definitely recommend giving the kit a shot to anyone who has the $50 available to do so!

I would definitely caution anyone to be very delicate with the plastic ribbon snaps as it does not take much force to break them.
