New Battery for MacPro keeps it going

I have a 13" MacBook Pro - mid 2010 model that I have since upgraded to 8GB RAM and a 350GB SSD. It has been a great laptop and I have had no good reason to replace it. I started to have my doubts when my battery wasn't holding a charge and the message I saw when I clicked on the battery icon said "Service Battery". I heard a "cha ching" knowing that batteries aren't cheap and neither is a visit to the Apple store for an out of warranty repair. Since I had done the RAM and SSD upgrades myself without any issues, I went online searching for a replacement battery. That is when I stumbled upon iFixIt. I had not heard of it before but saw that they had a great price for the battery. That's when I realized how different the site was from other part replacement stores. iFixIt had guides but what really caught my eye was how they listed the exact tools you would need to get the job done correctly and sold the tools at a very reasonable price. I have had many do-it-yourself experiences where I had everything I needed except the right "secret" screwdriver which of course didn't realize until I had parts scattered across the table. After I purchased the battery and tools I decided to research the site more and loved the philosophy and community. Not to mention the clean site layout. Glad to have found it!

Repair was very easy and took less than 10 minutes.

I didn't even use the guide - just having the right tools and some common sense made this an easy repair. My MacBook is better than it was when the battery wasn't causing any specific issues. I was able to easily replace the battery with an OEM Apple battery so there is no worrying about a generic battery causing any mysterious issues.
