MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Mid 2010 DC-In Board Replacement

45 minuten

Difficult

Mijn probleem

My battery stopped loading when connected to the MagSafe power adapter. At first only from time to time (sometimes it worked, sometimes not). Then it completely stopped working.

And I only got that very very dim green light on the MagSafe.

As long as connected to the power cord the MacBook Pro would not run on battery - it seemed though the battery was needed for startup or so. As soon as the battery was dead I couldn't start my Computer. So the first thing I tried was getting a new battery, but that didn't solve the loading issue. At least the battery came with 60% which was great for another few month. Till I came down to 20% and I decided to finally try swapping out the DC-In Board.

Actually I was afraid of the repair, because you have to dig your way all through the MacBook - but it was worth it.

Mijn oplossing

I was all set and ready, thought I was prepared for everything, pulled out the first few screws, then I realized I didn't have a Torx-T6 screwdriver. I didn't even had one at home - what I actually thought - so I had to go out and buy one.

After I got the missing screwdriver everything went just fine.

Without the time for buying the screwdriver it took me just 90min till my battery was loading again.

Mijn advies

Double check if you have everything at hand, before you start!

Be very careful with all these connectors! Especially the fan connector is made of some very thin and porous plastic - for a moment I thought I broke it.
