Mijn probleem

Dating a new girl, and she's been dealing with a bad MBP trackpad (it didn't register clicks consistently) plus a paltry 2GB of memory for forever. She had been to the Apple Store, but was told she'd have to give up her laptop for a couple of days to get it repaired. I knew that I could impress her by fixing it in an hour.

Mijn oplossing

The repair went perfectly, and took *maybe* 30 minutes. With ifixit's guide and their tool set, I had everything I needed. The only part that was a little dicey was getting the new trackpad's cable through, but the guide made it clear that it was going to be a little bit of pain. A little patience, some deep breaths, a spudger... no problem.

She was very impressed, and I received profuse thank-you's after she started using it. She couldn't believe how much it felt like a brand new computer. <insert success kid meme>

Mijn advies

This particular repair is not nearly as difficult as you might think. The key is having the right tools. And I can tell you, cracking open a laptop is pretty impressive to someone who's never seen it done. (Not to mention to yourself!)
