Mac Mini - Improving the speed of my Mini with Kingston HyperX SSD 120GB

Mijn probleem

Original disk was too slow for creating movies with iMovie.

Therefore I've decided to buy SSD Drive. Some compromise between capacity and price. Kingston HyperX 120GB was my choice.

Mijn oplossing

It was smooth and really easy, sometimes i had really bad feeling that both my hands are left :-) when I was watching that nice lady in video guide. That lady was doing the fix like it was really easy. It is, but you have to be really careful. Probably she has small hands :)... everything was smooth except putting back airport grill. But i got it there after few minutes. Also removing the fan was not just about two screws but I had to remove all of them first.

Mijn advies

To give any advice... Perfect guide, perfect shipping, really fast even though it was going through the Atlantic to Europe, Czech Republic and it has spent one whole day at custom office, it was delivered in 5 days ... pretty good score.

But to give you advice, if you expect more speed from SSD, don't be disappointed like me. I ran some tests for performance. And as you can see, 500MB/s for Sec Reading, but only 160MB/s for writing.

I've also installed Windows 7 to perform tests with Crystal Benchmark and i've realized that it is even worse.

But anyway even that score is much better than original disk which doing about 60MB/s :-) ...
