Mijn probleem
Poor battery life was beginning to get problematic. This was actually (supposed to have been) replaced in a prior battery recall, but it never really seemed as good as it should have been. The initial "bad" batteries seemed better than the fix. I finally dec died enough is enough and decided to replace them from iFixit. I had done other repairs on phones, and those went well.
Mijn oplossing
The guide was very good, except a couple of times the divide was rotated and the picture didn't match up at first. Got me a tad confused til I figured it out. The only problems I had
1. I broke the microphone connector, irreparably. If I was to sacrifice a function, though, that would be it. Not sure how it happened, but the cable snagged on the socket, and I though it was just lying there. I tugged on it, and out came the whole connector. :-/
2. The solvent did nothing to my battery adhesive. Multiple applications and no loosening, The floss saw didn’t do much, so I ended up mechanically prying and peeling the batteries out. Even when it came time to remove the residual tapes and adhesive, it really did nothing much other than make it wet. I used GoofOff which did the trick for cleanup.
Mijn advies
My main advice is to:
1. Get the Magnetic Project Mat or something like that. I had done other repairs without that, just using a paper towel and writing on it. I had already ordered the battery kit, but when I read the guide and saw how many and how tint the screws were, I ordered it. Worth its weight in gold.
2. On removing the touch pad, the warning about the tiny washers jumping off should be in BOLD. They are mobile and itty bitty. I recommend placing the magnetic mat or at least a terry cloth towel under that, because they are REALLY hard to find once they jump!
