Mid2015 MacBook Pro Retina Screen Repair

Mijn probleem

I dropped the laptop on the bottom left corner of the screen and it bend inward about 1 mm. This caused a 1 cm black vertical bar on the left side of the screen, hiding the apple in the menu bar.

Mijn oplossing

Everything went well once I purchased the 64 bit kit. I missed step 11 in the guide (missed in the scrolling of the pdf on another computer) and only noticed when about to separate the screen from the body. I replace the two last screws and was able to disconnect the display connector and complete the separation.

The replacement screen came with a defect, the black plastic cover along the bottom of the screen between the hinges would not stay in place on the right side. I was able to replace the piece with the one on my original screen and able to secure it in place.

Mijn advies

Consider adding sections to the guide to group activities together with a short goal statement. For example:

1. Remove bottom cover - to expose the connectors and hinges.

2. Disconnect connectors - disconnect power, WiFi, iSight, and display connectors.

3. Remove screen - remove hinge screws and separate display from body.

Seeing these headers would have made me check the display connector sooner.
