Mijn probleem
On Christmas day my son went to play some new games only to receive the RROD of his XBOX 360. I looked into sending it back to Microsoft, yet since I'm in the biz I looked for a refurbished system board only to find ifixit's web site and repair kit for less than half the price and no shipping.
Mijn oplossing
The repair went very well. Some tweaking could be done to the online document and my case wanted to fight back some from being removed but after about 15 minutes I did get the case apart. The xbox opener is a great tool as long as your case is willing :-) Having experience with electronics I did have a can of air to clean dust from the fan assembly and case and I also borrowed a heat gun to reflow the board per your instructions. Reassembled the system, and it came up and is working fine. The repair process is about an hour. Take your time and you'll be fine.
Mijn advies
I recommend that you should include the cpu cleaner and purifier in the kit. And strongly recommend a can of compressed air to clean heat sinks etc.
