Mijn probleem
The PS3 was the original from 2006. The last 2 months I let my son play Madden 15 (disc version) for about 3-5 hours daily. The PS3 first wiped the hard drive. Odd, I though I would download my stuff since I have a PS plus account. I let it download overnight and in the morning returned to a weird flashing red light.
I tried to turn it on multiple times only to see that there was a yellow flash in between the red flashes. The Madden disc was trapped in the PS3.
Mijn oplossing
The repair was less then 2 hours and went well which I owe my experience to fixing and repairing laptops.
I spent a lot more time sucking out the dust bunnies inside the case and cleaned the fan to almost new condition.
The old thermal paste was hard and I removed it with rubbing alcohol which is fast and safe.
The heat gun alone is worth the price. I followed along more with the video then the guide. There was about 38 screws total. One thing that makes the repair go smooth is after I remove a screw, I put a label by the hole with a number and then stick that screw on the number on the sheet.
When putting the PS3 back together I wish there was a reverse video.
I have been running the PS3 in time increments of 1-3hours mostly for downloading. I have a large collection. Just yesterday it was running for 18hrs straight. I gamed with no problem.
Mijn advies
Clean the dust completely out of the system. When it is torn apart, consider replacing the CR2032 battery. Make sure you completely remove the old thermal paste and most important to put a thin even layer back on. Clean the fan.
