Mijn probleem

I had two broken iPhones. One had a smashed display, the other had a toasted battery.

Mijn oplossing

The display repair took me about 45 minutes from beginning to end. The hardest part was figuring out how to get the display separated from the bottom half -- after that everything clicked right along. Once I had that done the battery repair went really fast -- about 15 minutes. Hardest part for me on that one was prying the battery off the adhesive tape that holds it.

Mijn advies

I fixed two iPhones. Most of those tiny phillips screws inside seemed to be magnetized, making it somewhat easy to move them around on the tip of the screwdriver. However, in each of my two phones that I repaired there was one screw that was NOT magnetized -- it was one of the three screws on the front panel assembly cable bracket (the screw closest to the thumb in step 8 of iPhone 5 LCD and Digitizer Replacement). I had to carefully set the tiny screw on the tip of my tiny screwdriver, pointing up, and then try to lower the iPhone onto the screw hole. That was the only way I could get the screw back in the hole without it falling into the body of the iPhone.

After it was all said and done, I wish I had known it was this easy to fix an iPhone 5. I've got eight iPhones in use by my company and, because of a defect, we've thrown away perfectly good phones that could have had more life breathed into them through a quick fix. I just ordered three new batteries to fix three other employees' iPhones!
