Heat the screen

  • Completely power off the Surface before you begin disassembly.

  • If the screen's glass is cracked, keep further breakage contained and prevent bodily harm during your repair by taping over the glass. Lay overlapping strips of clear packing tape over the display until all the glass is covered. Wear safety glasses to protect your eyes.

  • Heat an iOpener and apply it to the right edge of the Surface's screen for two minutes.

  • You may need to reheat and reapply the iOpener several times to get the Surface warm enough. Follow the iOpener instructions to avoid overheating.

  • A hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate may also be used for more heat, but be careful not to overheat the Surface—the screen and internal battery are susceptible to heat damage.

Verwarm het scherm

Schakel de Surface volledig uit voordat je begint met het demonteren van het toestel.

Als je glazen scherm gebarsten is, beplak je deze met doorzichtige tape om verdere barsten en fysieke schade te voorkomen. Draag tevens oogbescherming om je te beschermen tegen rondvliegend glas.

Verwarm een iOpener en leg deze gedurende twee minuten op de rechterzijde van het scherm.

Het kan nodig zijn dat je de iOpener meerdere malen verwarmt en op het toestel legt om deze warm genoeg te krijgen. Volg de instructies van de iOpener om oververhitting van je toestel te voorkomen.

Je kunt hiervoor ook een föhn, warmtepistool of een kookplaat gebruiken, maar wees bij het gebruik hiervan wel extra voorzichtig dat je je toestel niet oververhit. De batterij en het scherm zijn beide erg kwetsbaar voor warmteschade.
